FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has named Danny Kelly as their men's lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week.

This is the second career athlete of the week honor for the senior defender. It is the fifth time this season that a member of the Thunder program has been recognized by the association.

Kelly, a Cedar Lake, Ind. native, was a defensive force in a pair of wins for the team. He opened the week with one of the best defensive performances in program history. He recorded seven caused turnovers, the second most in a single game by a member of the program, and seven groundballs. Trine defeated Cornell College in that game 17-1.

He followed up with four more in each category in an 11-3 victory against Edgewood University. He now boasts 25 caused turnovers so far this season and broke into triple digits (102) for his career at Trine.

The Thunder improved to 7-1 overall following the pair of wins. They will travel to face Hanover College in their next game. That tilt is scheduled for 4 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18.
