Thunder cheerleadingThe Thunder cheerleading squad are among the most active and visible groups on campus, including cheering or dancing on the sidelines at football and basketball games, making public appearances at community and regional events.

The Thunder cheerleading squad consists of a group of young men and women who enjoy promoting school spirit, creating enthusiasm and entertaining fans at Thunder athletic events. The audience is treated to big basket tosses, partner stunts, and distinctive routines. They provide sideline entertainment and half-time performances.

Incoming freshman are eligible to earn the Trine University Cheerleading Scholarship! Freshmen who make the squad are eligible to earn a $1000 scholarship for each year that they remain on the cheerleading squad.

Trine University Cheerleading is broken down into two squads, Game Day and Competition. All Game Day cheerleaders are responsible for cheering at home football and basketball. Competition cheerleaders are responsible for all home football games and use the basketball season to focus on competition. Requirements differ for each squad and vary season to season depending on what the program is looking for.

Game Day- Tumbling not required though a back-hand-spring is preferred

Competition- Standing Tuck and Roundoff Back Tuck required

Trine University Cheerleading holds try-outs in the spring for the upcoming year. Try-outs are a one-day process where tumbling, stunting and dance abilities are evaluated.


2025-26 Tryouts

The Trine University Cheer program has announced that tryouts for the 2025-26 season will be held starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26. The event will take place inside the MTI Center on Trine's campus. Following tryouts there will be a team informational meeting.

Tryouts will carry a cost of 40 dollars for first any student-athlete trying out for the first time and 20 dollars for returning student-athletes. Registration and payment should be made online.
