ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team downed visiting Manchester University in dominating fashion, winning every match on the way to a 9-0 victory.

The match got started with the No. 3 team of Lizzie Welker and Kennedy Outwater picking up a shutout victory with a score of 8-0. In the No. 2 match, Emilee Bassett and Haley Straub won 8-1 and in the No. 1 match Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney finished off the first half with an 8-2 win.

Bassett battled her way through the toughest match of the day in the No. 2 singles losing her first set before winning the second and the super tiebreaker with a final score of 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 10-5. The opposite end of the spectrum came in the No. 3 singles match where Maloney won in straight points 6-0, 6-0.

Three members of the team needed just one extra point to win their matches including Locane in the No. 1 match, Outwater in the No. 5 match and Lillian Trinh in the No. 6 match. The final win of the day came in the No. 4 match with scores of 6-3, 6-0.

Trine improves to 7-3 after the victory. They will continue their season when they travel to face Anderson (Ind.) University on Wednesday, March 20. That match is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
