NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team picked up their third win of the season with a 7-0 shutout of their hosts from Manchester University. The match was a makeup for a contest that was originally scheduled to be the first of the season for both teams.
The Thunder took two of three doubles matches for the 1-0 lead. Addison Lockwood and Anna Wesley led off the day with a 6-0 victory in the top match. Chloe Hilvers and Cali Mickley won the No. 3 match by default.
Trine then swept the singles matches to secure the victory. Lockwood and Wesley took the No. 5 and No. 6 matches by default. Hilvers followed up with the most convincing contested win of the day, taking the No. 4 match 6-0, 6-0. Avery Elsworth finished next with a 6-1, 6-1 win in the top match. Emily Hatseras won the No. 2 match 6-3, 6-0 and Mickley finished the day with a 6-1, 6-3 win in the No. 3 match.
The Thunder improve to 3-1 following the win. They are scheduled to next compete when they face off with Cedarville University on Saturday, September 19 at 2 p.m. That match is set to be hosted by Taylor University in Upland, Ind.
