ORLANDO, Fla. – The Trine University women's tennis team faced off with the NCAA Division II team from PennWest University - California (Pa.) and came up short by the score of 7-2.

The Vulcans took two of the three doubles matches to build an early 2-1 lead in the dual. The team of freshman Emilee Bassett and senior Bailey Pelliccia got the first point for the team in No. 3 doubles where they won 8-2.

Sophomore Kennedy Outwater picked up the other team point for the Thunder winning the No. 6 singles match 6-4, 6-1. Pelliccia just missed out on an undefeated day by forcing a super tiebreaker in the No. 5 match with scores of 3-6, 7-6 (8-6), 10-4.

Trine falls to 5-3 overall after the loss. They will finish their time in Florida tomorrow, Thursday, March 8 when they face off with Baldwin Wallace University at 1:30 p.m.
