NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Trine University women's tennis team was in action Tuesday on the road in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) competition at Saint Mary's College. The Thunder (9-5, 2-2 MIAA) were bested by the Belles (6-8, 3-1 MIAA) by a score of 6-3.

In doubles, the senior pairing of Ashley Spirrison [Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern] and Ellie Cole [Albion, Ind. / Central Noble] were victors in the number one match, 8-6. Saint Mary's would claim the two and three matches in the duos portion of the event.

Spirrison would be victorious in singles action as well with 6-0 and 6-2 wins in the number one match. The Belles would pick up points in the two, three and four matches, but Cole was a winner once again in match five 6-2, 6-4. Freshman Kennedy Outwater [Bronson, Mich. / Bronson] dropped the first set 6-0, but bounced back for a 6-3 set two triumph. Ultimately, she would be defeated 6-4 in the third, but put up a great fight in the number six match.

The Thunder look to recover at home on Saturday, April 9 when Albion College travels to Angola to compete at 2 pm.
