Women's Tennis Remains Unbeaten with 5-4 Victory

ANGOLA, Ind. -- The Trine University women's tennis team led the whole way, despite a close final score, to pick up a 5-4 home win against Calvin University.

The Thunder started with a pair of victories in the doubles portion of the contest. The team of juniors Ashley Spirrison (Fishers, Ind. / Hamilton Southeastern) and Ellie Cole (Albion, Ind. / Central Noble) took the No. 1 match by the score of 8-5, while the team of freshman Jadyn Davis (Angola, Ind. / Angola) and junior Camille Lozier (Elkhart, Ind. / Concord) took the No. 3 match 8-3.

Trine would go on to take three of the singles matches to complete the 5-4 victory. Spirrison remained undefeated for the season with a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 1 match. Lozier was the other player to go undefeated on the day with a 6-0, 7-5 win in the No. 6 match. Senior Trista Savage (Bryan, Ohio / Bryan) came up with the final point for the team with a 6-0, 4-6, 10-5 win in the No. 5 match.

Trine improves to 2-0 following the victory. They will take the courts again tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 20 when they travel to face Olivet College. The match is set to start at 1 p.m.
