Pass Victorious as Thunder Drop MIAA-Opener

ADRIAN, Mich.-- Trine's Kinnsey Pass earned a singles victory to highlight the performance of the Trine women's tennis team in an 8-1 loss to Adrian Wednesday evening in the MIAA-opener.

Pass (Lafayette, Ind. / Jefferson) rallied back after dropping the first set, 4-6. She extended the match with a well-fought 7-5 victory in set two before winning the tiebreak in 10-3 fashion. The victory was the second in a row for Pass. The sophomore has notched a team-high seven wins this season and owns a team-best winning percentage of .700. Pass has earned a 6-3 record in matches in the No. 3 singles flight.

Slick surfaces and a fast surface proved too much for the rest of the Thunder to adjust to, as Trine fell to 0-1 in conference matches and 3-7 overall. Adrian improved to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in conference matches.

Sloan Davis (Olivet, Mich. / Olivet) and Carlee Richardson (LaGrange, Ind. / Lakeland) were able to push their Bulldog opponents to a tiebreak in the No. 3 doubles court. Their efforts fell just short as the tiebreaker went 7-3 to Adrian.

Trine continues MIAA play this Saturday, Apr. 9 at Albion. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
