GREENCASTLE, Ind.-- The Trine women's lacrosse team dropped its season opener to DePauw by a 21-2 final.

Taylor Gast (Akron, Ind./Tippecanoe Valley) and Hunter Johnson (Millbury, Ohio/Lake) provided the Thunder goals. Gast added a ground ball and two draw controls. Johnson notched a ground ball, caused a turnover and earned a draw control. Grace Garrett (Carmel, Ind./Carmel) made nine saves in net for the Thunder. Trine falls to 0-1. DePauw improves to 1-1 on the season.

Emma Flynn scored six goals on seven shots and added an assist to lead DePauw. Maryclaire Heldring notched three goals, while Elizabeth McCracken, Nicole Gibson, Taylor Summers and Emily Scinta each added a pair of goals. Liz Hawkins made four saves to earn the victory in net.

Trine returns to action tomorrow at 2 p.m. against Wilmington (OH). The game is scheduled to be played at Park Tudor High School in Indianapolis, though the venue may be changed to DePauw University.
