LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Trine University women's lacrosse team fell to Transylvania University 14-13 on Sunday afternoon as they wrapped up the non-conference portion of the schedule. Trine (5-3) was led by
Erin Fariello with three goals. Transy improves to 6-7.
Fariello added four draw controls while
Izabelle Dominski,
Elizabeth Larson, and
Isabel Fischer each added two goals.
Dominski scored her pair quickly, helping Trine build a 4-1 lead in the first quarter. Fariello and Larson added one each. The Thunder led 7-5 at halftime with goals from
Sienna Coventry, Fariello, and Fischer.
Kelsey Yanagihara made nine of her 13 saves in the second half as the Thunder defense battled to preserve the lead. Fischer, Larson, and
Hayden Dahlinger added goals in the third quarter as the Pioneers close the gap by one. Transy stayed hot early in the fourth quarter, taking a 13-11 lead.
Claire Schmaltz added a goal and Faiello completed her hat trick with an advantage goal to tie the game. Transy would score inside three minutes remaining to take the win.
Trine opens MIAA play on Wednesday at 4 p.m when they host Albion College.
