INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The National Collegiate Athletic Association has announced the qualifiers for the 2026 Division III Men's Golf National Championships in Howey-in-the-Hills, Florida on May 12-15.
Garrett James was selected as one of ten individuals to compete for a national title.
This is James' first trip to the National Championships; he is Trine's first representative on the national stage since 2021 when the Thunder competed as a team. Head Coach
Mitch Lowney competed as part of the team.
James earned first team All-MIAA honors this season finishing with the third lowest scoring average across the six MIAA tournaments. His round of 65 at Pine River Country Club at Jamboree #3 on October 4
th tied the program record for an 18-hole round. James claimed medalist honors at four different tournaments this season, his season average of 73.24 is the fourth best in program history, while his 36-hole average of 147.50 is third best for a single season. James ranks fourth in program history with a career average of 75.13. The senior was ranked as high as 17
th nationally this season as an individual.
43 teams and 10 individuals make up the field of 225 participants. The first two rounds will be played simultaneously on El Campeon and Las Colinas courses with the final two rounds played at El Campeon. After 36 holes, the field will be trimmed to the top 18 teams and top six individuals not on one of those teams. 34 of the teams earned at large selections while nine others earned at-large selections.
Competition is set to begin next Tuesday, May 12. More information regarding start times and course information will be made available when it is published.
