LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Trine University softball team retained their hold on the second position in the most recent edition of the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)/GoRout Division III Coaches Poll.
The Thunder were unchanged, receiving 240 points in the third regular season poll of the season. Virginia Wesleyan University won six more games to hold on to the top spot in the rankings. Texas Lutheran University was third, with Saint Mary's (Minn.) University and Berry College rounding out the top five.
Trine has been idle since going 5-1 at the 2026 NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic. That record continues to look impressive, including wins over eighth-ranked East Texas Baptist University and 20th ranked Belhaven (Miss.) University. Their lone loss of the season is to the aforementioned fifth ranked Vikings.
The team is scheduled to return to action on Saturday, March 21 with a home doubleheader against Anderson (Ind.) University. Game one is set for a 1 p.m. start.
