FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Trine University women's tennis team has been selected to finish sixth in the upcoming conference season according to the nine Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) coaches. It is the inaugural preseason poll for women's tennis.
The Thunder finished with 31 points in the poll. Totals are determined by votes cast by the association's coaches, who cannot vote for their own team. The program with the most points receives the top spot in the poll.
Hope College was selected to finish first with a maximum of 64 points and eight first place votes. Kalamazoo College was selected second with 55 points and the final first place tally. Calvin University rounded out the top three with 49 points.
Last season the Thunder finished sixth in the final standings with a 3-5 record. Overall, during the 2024-25 season the team posted a record of 12-7.
The team enters the 2026 spring season still lossless sitting 6-0 so far. Five different members of the lineup are undefeated as individuals including Elina Locane and Alexis Maloney at 6-0, Emily Hatseras and Cali Mickley at 5-0, and Avery Elsworth at 2-0. The team of Emma Beehler and Addison Lockwood are currently 6-0 in doubles matches.
The Thunder will return to the courts during their Spring Break Trip. They begin competition in Orlando, Fla. on Monday, March 2 when they face the University of Mary.
