FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has announced its Athlete of the Week honors with Elina Locane representing the Trine University women's tennis team on the list of honorees.

This is the first time this season that a member of the team has taken home Athlete of the Week honors. It is the fourth time the senior has been tabbed by the MIAA during her career.

The Riga, Latvia native finished the week perfect in both the top singles and doubles contests as the Thunder picked up two more wins. She started the week with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over her opponent from Capital University as the Thunder won 6-1 as a team. In the doubles match she was joined in a 6-4 victory by partner Alexis Maloney.

Locane then won her single match against Taylor (Ind.) University with scores of 6-1, 6-4 as Trine once again secured a 6-1 team victory. Maloney and her won the doubles match 6-2.

Members of the Thunder, including Locane, are scheduled to compete when they to travel to St. Louis, Mo. and Washington University for the 2025 ITA Regional Championships. Day one of the event is set for Friday, September 19.
