FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) has named Zade Gawrys as their men's lacrosse Defensive Athlete of the Week.

This is the first career athlete of the week award for the senior goaltender. This week marks the second and third times this season that members of the Thunder program have been recognized by the association.

Gawrys, a native of Brentwood, Tenn., started both games for Trine this past weekend. On Saturday, he played all 60 minutes to earn the 12-2 victory. During the contest he made nine saves and added three ground balls. Sunday he played the first half to earn the victory, allowing zero goals while making two more saves.

The Thunder improved to 3-0 for the season after the pair of weekend victories. They next take the field when they travel to Ohio Northern University on Wednesday, February 25. That game is scheduled for 4 p.m.
