NEW ORLEANS – The first edition of the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's weekly cross country poll has been released. The Trine University women's cross country moved down one spot to 21
st from the preseason poll.
The Thunder rank first in the Great Lakes Region ahead of MIAA rivals, Calvin. The Knights are the only other representative for the region or MIAA in the poll at #24. Trine had a spectacular showing in their season opening 5k race at the Mastodon Alumni Open. Trine knocked off Division I competition from Purdue-Fort Wayne, Youngstown State, and Cleveland State to claim the team title. Trine had a pack time of just 28 seconds and placed all five runners in the top 11.
Trine returns to Fort Wayne this weekend for PFW's Rumble in the Fort. It will be the Thunder's first 6k race of the season, the full distance for conference and NCAA competition.
