FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association women's cross country coaches have announced the results of their preseason coaches' poll. Calvin claimed the top spot with 11 points and five first place votes, close behind are the Trine Thunder, claiming 15 points and three first place votes.
Hope College claimed the other first place vote in third place followed by Kalamazoo, Alma, and Saint Mary's. Albion, Adrian, and Olivet rounded out the poll.
Trine returns three All-MIAA runners from last season. Seniors
Bailey Puckett,
Sidney Swick, and
Eleanor Young will lead the squad that returns six of seven from last year's 28
th place NCAA Championship team. Second team All-MIAA selection
Chloe Goodrich finished 25
th at the NCAA Regional Championships.
In addition to the MIAA Coaches' poll, the Thunder were selected as the preseason #1 in the Great Lakes Region by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The Thunder took third place a year ago and return six of seven runners. The winner of each regional championship earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
