FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The #20 Trine University women's cross country team topped a field of Division I competition in their season opener this morning.
Sidney Swick led the Thunder with a third place finish.
Swick crossed in 18:13.3 and was closely followed by
Eleanor Young and
Bailey Puckett who took fourth and fifth in 18:19.9.
Chloe Goodrich took eighth in 18:36.0 and
Courtney Study rounded out the Thunder five in 11
th in 18:41.7.
Young and Puckett finished just .5 seconds ahead of Purdue Fort Wayne's Lydia Carrell which proved to be the winning margin as Trine topped the Mastodons by just one point. Cleveland State took third and the Penguins of Youngstown State were fourth. Trine will return to the PFW Cross Country course in two weeks for their first 6k race of the year.
