FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association men's cross country coaches have announced the results of their preseason coaches' poll. Hope and Calvin claimed the top spot with 12 points each. Hope held a small edge with four first place votes to the Knight's three. Close behind are the Trine Thunder, claiming 15 points.
Kalamazoo, Adrian, Albion, Alma, and Olivet rounded out the poll.
Trine returns two All-MIAA runners from last season. Senior national qualifier
Ryan Hoopingarner returns after a ninth place finish at the MIAA Championships and a 25
th place effort at the regional championships. Junior
Blake Overmyer was named second team All-MIAA last season.
In addition to the MIAA Coaches' poll, the Thunder were selected fourth in the Great Lakes Region by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The winner of each regional championship earns an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
