FORT WAYNE –
Blake Overmyer led the Trine University men's cross country team at the Purdue Fort Wayne Rumble in the Fort. Overmyer led the Thunder to a sixth place finish amongst a host of NCAA Division I opponents.
Wisconsin-Green Bay won the team title with Wright State in second place. IU-Indianapolis, Milwaukee, and hosts Purdue-Fort Wayne rounded out the top five. Trine beat the lone Division III opponent in Manchester.
Overmyer placed seventh, finishing the 8k race in 24:57.3, a new program #8 all-time mark.
Ryan Hoopingarner scored 18 points to the Thunder's team total of 128 with a 21
st place finish in 25:36.2.
Nick Spielman was 39
th for Trine, finishing in 26:15.6.
Clay Batio and
Gino Haley were 48
th and 56
th to round out the Thunder five. Batio crossed in 26:27.3 and Haley in 26:41.5.
Trine is off next weekend to prepare for the Swags Louisville Cross Country Classic on October 4
th at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park.
