GREENCASTLE, Ind. – The Trine University Women's Track and Field team took second place at today's Indiana DIII Championships, hosted by DePauw University. Trine won four events, set one program record and three meet records. The top eight finishers earned points toward the team championship.
Emmaline Leathermen set a new program record in the high jump by clearing 1.58 meters/5' 2.25".
Bailey Puckett toppled the meet record in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:18.59. She led a 1-3-4-5 finish for Trine.
Kelly Valle,
Taryn Pratt, and
Courtney Study followed in 2:21.24, 2:21.63, and 2:22.40.
Puckett was not finished there, taking down another meet record in the 1500 meter run, finishing in 4:39.70. Study was fourth in 4:48.32.
More meet records fell when the Thunder took to the track for the 5000-meter run.
Sidney Swick and
Eleanor Young both went under the previous record with Swick taking the win in 17:32.31, Young was third in 17:49.59.
Grace Dubsky and
Chloe Goodrich were close behind in fourth and fifth. They finished in 17:58.34 and 18:00.16.
Mackenzie Miller,
Emma Forker,
Aniyah Small, and
Ariana Todd finished 2-4-5-7 in the 100-meter dash in 12.60, 12.70, 12.80, and 12.91 seconds.
Forker, Miller, and Todd were back in the 200, joined by
Sophia Peter this time for a 3-4-5-6 finish in 25.64, 26.02, 26.15, and 26.25 seconds.
Allison Batten was third in the 400-meter dash, finishing in 1:03.16.
Adrianne Jackson finished the 400-meter hurdles in 1:08.40 for a fifth place showing.
Mia Griesmeyer,
Sophia Altman, and
Piper Barker went 5-6-8 in the 3000-meter steeplechase. They finished in 12:13.75, 12:20.40, and 12:24.17.
Abby Sanner took fourth in the discus and hammer throws. She tossed the discus 37.64 meters/123' 6" and the hammer 44.59 meters/146' 3". She took second in the shot put with a toss of 12.14 meters/39' 10".
Isabel Ferguson was fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.43 meters/4' 8.25". She added a third place in the triple jump with a hop, skip, and jump of 10.01 meters/32' 10.25".
Peyton Schuring was eighth in the javelin, tossing 25.84 meters/84' 9".
Miller, Forker, and Leatherman went 2-5-6 in the long jump. Miller was second with a 5.19 meter/17' .5" leap. Forker took fifth with 5.03 meters/16' 6" and Leatherman leapt 4.82 meters/15' 9.75".
Olivia Andrews,
Avery Boyce, and
Kendallyne Kroeckel went 1-2-8 in the pole vault. Andrews won with a clearance of 3.22 meters/10' 6.25", Boyce was close behind with a jump of 3.12 meters/10' 2.75" and Kroeckel took eighth with a jump of 2.57 meters/8' 5.25".
The 4x400-meter relay of Pratt, Valle, Study, and
Emily Wahl took third in 4:15.53.
The Thunder will spilt squads next weekend, heading to Grand Valley State and Hillsdale.
