SALEM, Va. –D3hoops.com has announced
Sidney Wagner as a third team All-American. This marks Wagner's second season earning All-America honors and third career All-America award. She was named to the D3hoops.com All-America Third Team in 2022-23 and to the WBCA Honorable Mention All-America team earlier this week Wagner will compete in the WBCA All Star Game this afternoon in Salem, Virginia.
Wagner is the third player in program history to earn All-America status. She joins
Brandi Dawson and Tara Bieniewicz, all three women earned multiple All-America honors. D3hoops.com tabbed Wagner as a preseason All-American in October.
Wagner was named MIAA Most Valuable Player, Defensive Player and First-Team All-MIAA this season. Wagner became the first women's basketball player to earn MVP and Defensive Player of the Year awards in the same season and is the second player in program history to earn multiple MIAA MVP awards.
Wagner led the Thunder with 16.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.7 steals per game. She led Trine to an unbeaten MIAA regular season and the first outright MIAA Regular Season Championship since 2018-19. The Thunder earned their 8
th consecutive bid to the NCAA Tournament where Wagner would lead them to the round of 32 behind a monstrous 27-point 15-rebound double-double in an overtime thriller against Transylvania.
Wagner concludes her career as the Trine Division III-era leader in games played, rebounds and assists, second in points, second in field goals made, second in steals, third in minutes, fourth in three point field goals made, fourth in free throws made, fifth in scoring average, eighth in three point percentage, eighth in field goal percentage.
