Men's Wrestling Competes at Indiana Little State

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Trine University men's wrestling team sent a delegation to Indiana Little State hosted by Manchester University. Six members of the team placed at the event, including three who ended the day fifth in their weight class.

Kaden Golder was the first member of the team to finish in the top-five, competing at 125. He dropped his first match before winning five straight to secure the fifth-place finish. Along the way to the fifth-place bout, he had two wins by fall and two by decision. The final match of the day was a rematch with his first opponent, this time ending with an 18-1 tech fall in his favor.

The next top-five finish came at 165 where Lakin Webb also started the day with a loss. He followed up by winning the next three of four by fall, with the fourth win coming by decision, to reach the fifth-place match. There he won with a 6-3 decision.

Gavin Malone rounded out the top finishers for the team. He lost his first match as well, before winning by fall in the opening round of the consolation bracket. He followed up with a major decision before winning the fifth place-place contest with another fall.

The next best finish for the team came at 141 where Tommy Miller came in in sixth. He won his first match of the day with a tech fall and his second by decision, reaching the main quarterfinals before his first loss. In the consolation bracket he had a pair of tech falls before dropping the fifth-place match.

Jacob Saylor was eighth at 197. He had wins by fall and major decision before recording two medical forfeits to end his day. Davin George was eighth at 285 to round out the placers for the team. He had two wins by tech fall on his way to the finish.

The Thunder head to the Berg Holiday Duals for their next competition. That event, which is hosted by Heidelberg University in Sandusky, Ohio, is scheduled for Saturday, December 13.
