ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's wrestling team left it all on the mat in their final dual of the season, falling to visiting Albion College 26-16.
The Thunder started the match off with six points, after the Britons forfeited the 125 match in the dual. Kaden Golder was the recipient of the uncontested victory.
After Albion took the next match to cut the team score to 6-3, Tommy Miller responded with a victory of his own. Miller won at 141 with a 6-2 decision making the dual's score 9-3 in favor of the home side.
The next three matches went to the Britons, two of them with bonus points, to flip the script for the night. Albion never relinquished the lead after making it 16-9.
Nyal Sbay did cut into that lead with a 9-4 comeback result at 174. The final win for the Thunder came at 197 where Julante Hinton turned in a major decision by the score of 18-7. Both wrestlers just missed out on falls in their matches, Hinton in particular held his opponent an inch from the match for more than ten seconds.
The other two final matches went to Albion, both with bonus points to reach the final 26-16 score.
Trine finishes the regular season 2-2 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. They are 4-7 overall. Members of the team will next compete when they travel to the Midstate Invitational hosted by Alma College on Saturday, February 14.
