LILBURN, Ga. – The Trine University women's basketball team rose three spots in this week's edition of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll. The poll is the first of the WBCA's weekly coaches' polls for the season. Trine now checks in at #17, tied with John Carroll with 68 points. The Thunder are the highest ranked team in the MIAA.
Trine spilt their first two games of the season. Falling 64-62 to Wisconsin Lutheran despite a massive performance form
Ally Capouch. The junior poured in 32 points, the fifth most in a game in program history on 7-11 three-point shooting. Her seven long balls are tied for the second most in a single game.
Trine rebounded well with a win over then-#9 Baldwin Wallace.
Hailey Cole posted a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead Trine to a defensive win over the Yellow Jackets. Wisconsin Lutheran is now #25 in the poll, up from the receiving votes category. Baldwin Wallace falls from #9 to #20. In the MIAA, Calvin dropped from #21 to out of the poll following a 1-3 start while Hope jumped to #22.
The Thunder will travel to Mount St. Joseph for a pair of games this weekend. They will take on Geneva (Pa.) College on Friday at 7 p.m. and Carlow (Pa.) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
