Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Marks has Career Night, #17 Thunder Dominate Geneva (Pa.)

CINCINNATI – Olivia Marks erupted for a career high 21 points and 11 rebounds in her first career double-double to lead the #17 Trine University women's basketball team to a 92-56 win over Geneva (Pa.). Marks led four Thunder in double figures as every player made and appearance in the game. Trine moves to 2-1 on the year while Geneva drops to 1-1.

Marks becomes the fifth player in program history to post a perfect field goal percentage (minimum 8 shots made) and is the first since Alexa Porter who did it in February 2021. Her lone miss on the night came at the free throw line. Marks scored four of Trine's first seven to take a 7-6 lead. She scored the next four to kick start a 15-3 run and put Trine firmly in control of the game. Madison Wagner and Annika Southworth knocked in shots from downtown and Marks ended the quarter with another bucket to reach double figures in one frame.

Trine scored the first five of the second quarter as they never allowed the Golden Tornadoes a chance to rally. The Thunder forced seven turnovers in the second quarter and 20 on the night, turning those into 23 points. Ally Capouch hit two of her three triples in the second frame en route to 11 points. Trine led 44-22 at halftime.

Marks was limited to one point in the second quarter but poured in eight in the third and added four rebounds and a steal. Erin Sherwood and Marks both scored in the paint to open the quarter and Marks knocked in two free throw. Hailey Cole made an and-one and Gracey Metz scored the next four as Trine stretched the lead to 31 points.

The Thunder kept the heat on in the fourth scoring six early points in the paint. Trine outscored Geneva's final point tally on just points in the paint with 58. Trine went deep into the bench early in the quarter. Freshmen Elliana Foley and Payton Palmer each scored their first collegiate points in the contest.

Trine will conclude the Mount St. Joseph Invitational tomorrow afternoon with a 3:00 p.m. contest against Carlow (Pa.).
