EAST LANSING, Mich. – Ryan Hoopingarner led the Trine Men's Cross Country team to a seventh-place finish at the 43^rd Spartan Invite this morning. Hoopingarner was the Thunder's top finisher in the 8km race, finishing in 26:18.4 and placing 50th.
 
Junior Robert Lohman finished second for Trine in 26:39.6, Sophomores Blake Overmyer and Clay Batio were third and fourth. Senior Matt Edison rounded out the top five Thunder men.
Overall, the Thunder scored 193 points and finished seventh behind strong competition from Division II schools Grand Valley State, Saginaw Valley State, and Ferris State. Michigan State claimed the team title with 23 points.
 
Trine returns to the course September 20^th at the Purdue-Fort Wayne Invitational.
