SAGINAW, Mich. – The Trine University Women's Track and Field team opened their season this weekend competing at Grand Valley State and Saginaw Valley State. Bailey Puckett led the group at Grand Valley with a third place finish in the 5,000-meter run and Abby Sanner had a strong showing in Saginaw. The meets were not team scored.
 
Puckett led a group of four Thunder runners in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:41.45.
 
In Saginaw, Mackenzie Miller opened with an impressive 7.95 second 60-meter dash, placing 16^th. Sophia Peter and Brynn Mericle placed 12^th and 15^th in the 60-meter hurdles.
 
The 4x400-meter relay team of Josie Barriger, Taryn Pratt, Allison Batten, and Adrianne Jackson finished ninth with a time of 4:18.84. Olivia Andrews cleared 3.12 meters/10'2.75" in the pole vault for an 11^th place finish. Emma Forker was fourth in the long jump with a leap of 5.29m/17'4.25".
 
Sanner led the throws squad with a sixth place finish in the weight throw, her best throw traveled 15.35m/50'4.5", in the shot put she was seventh with a put of 11.98m/39'3.75".
 
 
Trine will take a little over a month off before hosting the Sean Brady Invitational on January 18^th.
