TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Trine University men's cross country team completed the 2024 Division III Pre-Nationals race with a 16
th place finish out of the 46 attending teams.
Pomona-Pitzer topped the event as a team with a low score of 65 points, while the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater came in just behind with 82 points. George Fox University rounded out the podium with a score of 152 points. Â The Thunder took 16
th with a score of 515, just one point behind the California Institute of Technology.
Senior
Ryan Hoopingarner led the way for Trine finishing the course with a time of 25:34.01 and a 55
th place individual performance. Sophomore
Max Van Huis was second best for the team, turning in a time of 25:39.91 for a 65
th place finish.
Joseph Packard (26:25.15) and
Blake Overmyer (26:27.21) finished just minutes apart in 134
th and 137
th individually.
Gehrig Longe rounded out the points for the Thunder with a time of 26:40.32 in 161
st place.
Trine will next race when they travel to Rock Island, Ill. for the Augustana Interregional Invitational on Saturday, October 19. The event is scheduled to start at 11:45 a.m.
