TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Trine University men's cross country team completed the 2024 Division III Pre-Nationals race with a 16^th place finish out of the 46 attending teams.

Pomona-Pitzer topped the event as a team with a low score of 65 points, while the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater came in just behind with 82 points. George Fox University rounded out the podium with a score of 152 points.  The Thunder took 16^th with a score of 515, just one point behind the California Institute of Technology.

Senior Ryan Hoopingarner led the way for Trine finishing the course with a time of 25:34.01 and a 55^th place individual performance. Sophomore Max Van Huis was second best for the team, turning in a time of 25:39.91 for a 65^th place finish. Joseph Packard (26:25.15) and Blake Overmyer (26:27.21) finished just minutes apart in 134^th and 137^th individually. Gehrig Longe rounded out the points for the Thunder with a time of 26:40.32 in 161^st place.

Trine will next race when they travel to Rock Island, Ill. for the Augustana Interregional Invitational on Saturday, October 19. The event is scheduled to start at 11:45 a.m.
