Box Score ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine men's soccer team was defeated by Alma, 1-0, in double overtime Tuesday evening at Weaver Field.
The Thunder's record falls to 0-14-3 overall, and 0-12-1 in MIAA play. The Scots' record advances to 12-5-1 overall, and 8-4-1 in MIAA play.
The first half ended in a deadlock between the teams. The Scots led shots on goal over the Thunder, 7-5, in the first half.
The second half ended with the score remaining scoreless between the battling teams. A solid performance by William Macedo (Elkhart, Ind./Elkhart Memorial) in goal, when Alma's offense was taking shot after shot, allowed the Thunder to send the game into overtime.
The grueling battle between the teams continued in the first overtime. Trine held the advantage in the first over time controlling the ball and taking two shots on goal over Alma's zero attempts.
In the second overtime the Scots grabbed the win with a header by Kyle Kansman off a corner kick by Josh Carolan
Kyle Wainscott led Trine's offense with five shots, followed by Bill Wilson with three shots.
Macedo made seven saves in goal for the Thunder.
The Thunder returns to action this Saturday Oct. 29, when they travel to Calvin for a MIAA match and their last game of the season. Match is scheduled to start at 2:30 p.m.
