Men's Soccer Draws on Senior Day

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's soccer team ended the season with an unexpected draw with visiting Albion College.

The day began with the team honoring their seniors who include some of the final remaining members of the 2024 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Regular Season Championship team. All the seniors eventually saw play in the contest.

The Britons entered the day with a chance to capture this year's MIAA regular season title, needing a victory over the Thunder and a loss by Calvin University. Trine took the pitch in the role of spoilers and played the part well.

The first half was quiet on both ends of the field, with the two teams combining for just five shots on goal. The Thunder came up with the slight edge in the category, 3-2, but Albion had the lone shot on goal.

The second half was a wild one, with Albion sending flurries of shots toward the Trine goal. In total they had 11 shots in the period to five by the Thunder. The home defense was up to the task, recording multiple blocks by the defense and one more save.

Trine responded in the offensive end with three shots on goal of their own, one each from Ben Borak, Colin Clark and Adam Nowicki. Clark's in particular was a strong scoring chance, with him facing the keeper on his own with a defender chasing him down at the last moment.

The game ended in the 0-0 draw after a frantic final 25 minutes of play.

The Thunder finish the season 3-11-2 overall and 1-5-1 in MIAA play. They miss out on the MIAA Tournament finishing as the seventh team in the standings.
