Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Thunder Bitten by Adrian

ANGOLA, Ind. – The Trine University men's soccer team came up short in a comeback attempt against visiting Adrian College, falling by the score of 2-1.

The Bulldogs took an early lead in the contest, finding the back of the net in the 16th minute of the contest. Following the goal neither team changed their strategy, playing aggressively on both sides of the ball. The Thunder did finish the half with a 5-2 lead in shots, but only one was on target for both teams.

Early in the second half, Britton Sala received a pass near midfield and began a run up the near side. He weaved his way around the defense, including a few spectacular jukes, until he reached the near side of the penalty area. He made a crossing pass to the far side of the net where Ben Borak was waiting to fire his shot into the back of the net.

The 1-1 tie lasted for the next 22 minutes of play before the Bulldogs responded. Adrian scored in the 81st minute to retake the lead and the 2-1 score ended up going final.

It was an aggressive game throughout. In the loss the Thunder still led the way in shots and shots on goal, but the opposition's keeper was up to the task.

Trine falls to 3-9-1 overall and 1-3-0 in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) play. The team will next take the pitch when they travel to face Calvin University on Wednesday, October 21. That match is set to start at 7:00 p.m.
