ANGOLA, Ind. - It was a tough day for the Trine University men's lacrosse team as they fell to conference leader Adrian 14-4. The loss drops the Thunder to .500 on the season at 7-7 overall and 3-2 in the MIAA.

It was all Bulldogs in the early goings as they jumped out to 6-0 lead midway through the second quarter. Trine would finally get on the board at 8:14 of the second on a man-up goal by freshman Chris Ward (Oak Lawn, Ill./St Rita) off an assist from freshman George Youpel (Chicago Ridge, Ill./St Rita).

Adrian would add a man-up goal of their own with 1:16 left in the half as they led it 7-1.

Adrian put the game away in the third as they scored five unanswered goals in the quarter.

The Thunder would score three goals in the fourth. After a Bulldogs goal to start the final frame, senior Dalton Madsen (Westminster, Colo./Northglenn) would net his team-leading 30th goal of the year on a man-up chance. Freshman Paul Carlquist (Downers Grove, Ill./Downers Grove South) would net his 17th of the season on an assist from freshman Jack Brown (Middletown, Ohio/Archbishop Alter). Trine's final goal would come off the stick of freshman Nic Ruby (Indianapolis, Ind./Bishop Chatard) with 3:49 to go in the game.

Junior Matt Lamb (Akron, Ohio/Revere) took the loss in goal for the Thunder making three saves in the first half. Sophomore Austin Helm (Akron, Ohio/Revere) came on in the second half and made six stops.

Junior Rob Brzezinski (Livonia, Mich./Detroit Catholic Central) led all players with nine groundballs while going 13-of-18 in the faceoff circle. Madsen and Ward each also picked up four groundballs on the afternoon.

For the day, the Thunder held a 30-to-27 groundball advantage and won 15-of-22 faceoffs. Adrian out-shot Trine 38-to-26 as both sides had similar numbers on turnovers, 14 for Trine and 12 for Adrian. Both sides were near perfect on clearing as the Thunder converted 15-of-16 while Adrian was successful on 23-of-24. On the afternoon, Trine was 2-for-9 on extra-man opportunities.

Trine will close out the regular season on Senior Day as Hope will visit Angola on April 27 for a 1:00 p.m. game. The winner will secure the third seed the MIAA tournament.
