Box Score

ANGOLA, Ind.  - It was a good start to conference play for the Trine University men's soccer team as they defeated Albion College 2-0. The Thunder are now 5-0-1 on the year and 1-0 in the MIAA.

Senior Foster Webb (Auburn, Ind./Dekalb) knocked home his second goal of the season for what would be the game-winner in the 39th minute on an assist from junior Curtis Holcom (Converse, Ind./Oak Hill).

Midway through the second half, the Thunder was whistled for two red cards, resulting in Trine playing two men down for the final 20 minutes. Despite being two players down, Trine immediately scored of the ensuing corner kick. Senior Andy Ohanesian (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) headed home the corner from Webb to seal the victory.

Senior Nick Thon (South Haven, Mich./South Haven) made five saves in goal earning his fourth shutout of the season, equaling his total from the 2010 season.

The Thunder held a 9-to-3 shot advantage in the first half. However, the two man advantage allowed the Britons several opportunities to score in the second half, but the Trine defense held strong. Albion out-shot the Thunder 8-to-4 in the second half.

Trine will next host conference opponent Alma College on September 21 at 4:00 p.m.
