THUNDER STRIKE ANOTHER WIN

Box Score

ANGOLA, Ind. - It was another solid win for the Trine University men's soccer team as they wrapped up non-conference play, defeating Defiance College 3-0. The Thunder are now 4-0-1 on the season.

Ranked third in the most recent NSCAA Central Regional ranking, the Thunder jumped on the Yellow Jackets early in the first half. Sophomore David Duquette (Wilmington, Ohio/Wilmington) got the Thunder rolling with his first goal of the season at the 17 minute mark. Junior Andre Hilson (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) fed Duquette with a long pass across the box where he buried the ball in the far left side of the goal.

Senior Sean Sullivan (Brighton, Mich./Brighton) added to the Trine lead just three minutes later when it was Hilson again who found Sullivan in traffic. Sullivan went up for the ball on the far left wing and found the back of the net before the Defiance keeper could knock it away.

Hilson wasn't just happy with a two assist afternoon. Hilson got in on the scoring action just five minutes into the second half when he buried the ball home from right on the doorstep. Senior Femi Adediji (Cedar Park, Tex./Vista Ridge) found Hilson who was able to slid the ball past the goalie.

Senior Nick Thon (South Haven, Mich./South Haven) who played the first 66 minutes combined with freshman Chris Stewart (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) to earn the shutout. Thon made two saves during his time in net.

On the afternoon, the Thunder held a substantial 22-to-7 shot margin.

Trine will begin their MIAA conference schedule when they host Albion College on September 17 at 2:30 p.m
