THUNDER STUNNED AT HOME

Box Score

ANGOLA, Ind. - It was not your typical game for the Trine University men's soccer team as they fell 2-1 in overtime to Adrian College. The Thunder are now 7-2-2 on the season and 3-2-1 in the conference.

Trine struck first in the 21st minute of the opening period as senior Femi Adediji (Cedar Park, Tex./Vista Ridge) gave a touch pass to junior Andre Hilson (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) at the top of the box. Hilson then floated the ball over the Adrian keeper and into the back of the net.

Both teams took several shots in the opening period as the Thunder outshot the Bulldogs 9-to-6.

Trine had several opportunities in the second period to put the game away including an open look by Hilson as the ball was just pushed high.

Adrian tied the game in the 66th minute when Travis Smith scored off a throw in as he went up in traffic and was able to find the net. Trine would outshoot the Bulldogs 8-to-3 in the second half but were unable to put away the game-winner.

In overtime, a Thunder turnover proved costly as an Adrian player struck a shot from about 25 yards out from the far right wing and was able to get it over goalie Nick Thon (South Haven, Mich./South Haven) for the winner.

Thon made two saves in goal for the Thunder on the afternoon.

The two goals allowed by Trine is the most they have allowed in a game this season and doubled their goals allowed for the season (2).

Trine will look to rebound with a win as they travel to Kalamazoo College on October 8 for a 2:30 p.m. match.
