THUNDER FALL IN RAINY CONDITIONS

Box Score

ANGOLA, Ind. - It looked more like kids playing on a slip and slide rather than a soccer game between the Trine University men's soccer team and Hope College. The soggy field conditions affected play from the opening kick as Hope scored the lone goal to win 1-0. The Thunder fall to 10-3-2 on the season and 6-3-1 in the conference.

The Flying Dutchmen scored the only goal of the game in the 24th minute. The Trine bench thought the Hope player was offside, but the officials said play on and Jeffrey Ekdom found the back of the net from the right side.

Trine had their own opportunities in both half's, including several in the second half. Trine held a 12-to-9 shot advantage. Senior Andy Ohanesian (South Lyon, Mich./South Lyon) led the way for the Thunder with four shots, two of which were on target. Fellow senior Foster Webb (Auburn, Ind./Dekalb ) also had two shots on goal.

Senior goalkeeper Nick Thon (South Haven, Mich./South Haven) made four saves on the afternoon.

Trine will look to get back to their winning ways when they travel to conference leader Calvin College on October 22 for a 2:30 p.m. game.
