TRINE MEN'S SOCCER FALLS TO OLIVET

Box Score

ANGOLA, Ind. - It was a tough ending to homecoming weekend for the Trine University men's soccer team as they dropped their first game of the season,  1-0 to Olivet College. The Thunder are now 7-1-2 on the season and 3-1-1 in the conference.

The lone goal of the game came at the 24 minute mark when the Comets initial shot was deflected off a Trine defender and Adam Wright gathered the rebound and fired it into the top right corner.

Trine had several opportunities to score including a free kick with just a few minutes remaining in the game by senior Femi Adediji (Cedar Park, Tex./Vista Ridge) that sailed just high of the goal. Junior Andre Hilson (Bremen, Ind./Bremen) led the Thunder with six shots, four on which were on goal.

Senior Nick Thon (South Haven, Mich./South Haven) made four saves in goal on the night. Thon had his consecutive scoreless streak snapped at 842:41 with the Olivet goal. Thon's shutout streak ranks him 9th all-time in NCAA Division III men's soccer. The goal also marked the first time Thon has been scored on this season, as he was the last remaining goalie in the Division III to allow a goal.

The Thunder will look to return to their winning ways as they host Adrian College on October 5 at 4:00 p.m.
