FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. – Trine University's Tyra Marcum has been named this week's Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Position Player of the Week following a dominant offensive performance during last week's doubleheader sweep of Adrian College.

This is the junior's fifth MIAA Athlete of the Week award during her career. It is the first time this season that a member of the team has taken home the honor.

The Goshen, Ind. native was a force to be reckoned with in the batters' box on Friday. She finished the doubleheader against the Bulldogs going 4-for-7 with a team high 10 RBIs. She had three homers in the two games, including a grand slam walk off in the first contest. All told she ended the weekend with a .571 batting average, a 1.857 slugging percentage and a .667 on-base percentage.

After a tight start against Adrian in game one, the Thunder pulled away before Marcum's grand slam ended the game in the sixth inning with a 15-5 victory. Game two saw Trine score 17 runs in the first inning and cruise to a 28-4 win in five innings.

The Thunder are set to travel to face Hope College for their next doubleheader. Those games are set to start at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 11.
