NFCA Recognizes Thunder for Academic Success

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has announced its Top 10 GPAs and All-America Scholar-Athletes, both sponsored by Easton, for the 2025-26 academic year. The national runner-up Trine University softball team was represented in both awards.

As a team the Thunder finished the year with a 3.755 GPA, the sixth best among NCAA Division III NFCA members. Bates College led the nation with a 3.86 with the University of Hartford and Pomana Pitzer Colleges rounding out the top three. Trine is the only member of the NCAA Division III National Championship tournament field to appear on the list.

An impressive 18 members of the team achieved All-America Scholar-Athlete status. To earn the award, student-athletes must have achieved a 3.5 grade-point average or higher for the 2025-26 year. NCAA Division III was second in the association with 2,493 total recipients.

This season the Thunder finished the year with a 41-8 overall record. It is the fourth straight season the team has reached the 40-win mark, just the sixth ever. The team ended the year in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship Series for the fourth time in five season and finished as national runners-up for the second time in program history.
