HILLSDALE, Mich. – The Trine University men's track and field team finished second of 16 teams at the 56
th Annual Hillsdale GINA Relays this weekend. The Thunder tallied 91.5 points behind some impressive distance running.
Kyle Redd raced to sixth in the Trine record book with a time of 48.49 seconds in the 400-meter dash.
Brady Millington moved to fifth all-time with a second place finish in the 800-meter dash stopping the clock in 1:55.09.
Nolan Grant was fifth in 1:56.91.
Max Van Huis took second in the 1500-meter run, finishing in 3:54.78 and won the 5000-meter run in 14:45.69. Blake Overmeyer was sixth and
Ryan Hoopingarner was eighth.
In the 3000-meter steeplechase, Trine posted a 1-3-4-5 finish with
Zack Gaynor taking the win.
Matt Hoop, Lucas Tutrow, and
Eli Gaddey rounded out the order.
Eli Shoup was fifth in the championship section, finishing in 9:44.36.
Preston Nofziger took fourth place in the pole vault, clearing 4.40 meters/14' 5.25".
The Thunder scored a 3-4-6 finish in the discus throw.
Trace Stookey was third,
Cody Bickley was fourth, and
Collin Brady was sixth. Stookey took third in the hammer throw.
Trine returns to Hillsdale next week for the Hillsdale Tune Up for one last meet before the MIAA Championships.
