LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Trine University softball team remains second in the latest National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) GoRout Division III Coaches Poll, the sixth week in a row they have held the spot.

The Thunder retained 240 points in the poll to hold their spot. Undefeated Virginia Wesleyan University, who improved to 32-0 this past week, continues their hold as the undisputed top team in the country.  Linfield University, Saint Mary's (Minn.) University and Texas Lutheran University rounded out the unchanged top five.

Trine won a pair of important Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) contests, sweeping Hope College on Saturday. The team won the first game 8-1, with Tyra Marcum leading the way with two RBIs, while Emma Lee had a homer and Karley Trine had a triple. Kami Arnett pitched five great innings for the win, allowing just one run on two hits and three walks while striking out nine.

Game two was a pitchers' duel, with Sydney Adolfson up to the task for the Thunder. She went all seven innings allowing just three hits and one unearned run. She had just 59 pitches in the contest while receiving 14 groundouts. Offensively, Jo Trine brought in two runs for the team on the way to the 2-1 final.

Forecasted and current weather leaves the Trine schedule in flux for the rest of the week. They were scheduled to play Saint Mary's College this afternoon, but those contests have been postponed. They are currently set to face Albion College on Saturday, April 18 and DePauw University on Sunday, April 19.
