GREENCASTLE, Ind. – For the third season in a row, the Trine University men's track and field team are champions of the Indiana DIII Track and Field meet. The Thunder tallied 158.5 points to top the field of eight Indiana Division III institutions.
Braden Estep led Trine with event wins in the 100- and 200-meter dashes and a second place in the 4x100-meter relay. Estep won the individual races in 10.67 and 21.66 seconds respectively. He teamed up with
Mason Turske,
Kyle Redd, and
Hunter Wilson in the 4x100 for silver.
Redd posted a personal best of 21.84 in the 200-meter dash and is now seventh all-time in the event. Turske was seventh in the half lap, clocking 22.69 seconds.
Rushawn James took fifth in the 400-meter dash in 50.88 seconds.
The Thunder scored three in the 800-meter dash.
Tyler Hartleroad was third,
Sam Sering was fifth, and
Nolan Grant was seventh.
Brady Millington moved to ninth in program history with a 4:01.95 effort in the 1500-meter run.
Seth Bakker was sixth.
Gavin Hinkley and
Gino Haley were fourth and eighth in the 5000-meter run.
Trine scored five in the 10,000-meter run.
Felix Palafox took second while
Robert Lohman,
Ryan Hoopingarner, and
Max Van Huis claimed fourth, fifth, and sixth and
Clay Batio was eighth.
Cole Figg took second in the 110-meter hurdles in 15.59 seconds. He was eighth in the 400-meter hurdles.
Hunter Eifert and
Caden Large took fourth and fifth.
Eli Shoup claimed third in the 3000-meter steeplechase while
Lucas Tutrow and
Matt Hoop were fifth and sixth.
The 4x400-meter relay team of Hartleroad, Grant, Millington, and Sering took second in 3:30.66.
Isaiah Freewalt tied for fourth in the pole vault and
Tyler Barnes was eighth in the triple jump.
Colten Zableckis added another eighth place showing in the shot put.
Trace Stookey was sixth in the discus throw, tossing 40.94 meters/134' 4".
Collin Brady took eighth. Zableckis and Stookey were third and fourth in the hammer throw with personal best marks of 49.87m/163' 7" and 49.71m/163' 1", respectively.
James Wordleman took sixth in the javelin throw.
Trine will split squads next weekend competing at Hillsdale College, Indiana Wesleyan University, and Otterbein University.
