MARSHALL, Texas – The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team finished their season with a victory in the NCATA Division III Tournament Event Finals. The team was named champions of the open pyramid. Nine members of the team also earned recognition on the All-Tournament Team and/or the All-Academic Team
A strength for the Thunder throughout the season, with the group averaging above a nine in the heat. Four of the seven times the team has performed the heat they have scored a 9.43 or higher. Today, they posted a season-high 9.875, which is also the second highest ever for the team in the heat.
Trine also had a strong showing in the quad pass tumbling event final, where they initially tied with University of Mary Hardin-Baylor before dropping the tiebreaker. UMHB won the rest of the event finals.
Also announced today were the All-Tournament and All-Academic awards. The Thunder had three student-athletes recognized as all-tournament members. Lauren Alexander and Lauren Hillin both earned first team honors while Olivia Hartup was placed on the second team.
All three were also named all-academic and were joined by six other members of the team. Lillianne Boyd, Courtney Welsh, Alexandra Mission, Julianna Porco, Megan TenHarkel and Ava Henderson also represented the Thunder on the list.
