MARSHALL, Texas – The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team bowed out of the 2026 NCATA Division III Tournament with a 216.635 to 203.580 loss to Concordia University Wisconsin.
The Thunder fell behind right from the start, falling in the Compulsory Event 29.08 to 24.93. The team had decent scores in the pyramid heat with an 8.95 and the toss heat with an 8.63.
The Falcons pulled further ahead in the Acro Event, defeating Trine by the score of 23.90 to 17.40. The Thunder started the event well scoring 8.58 in the first heat, before dropping points in the other two heats.
Trine performed better in the Pyramid Event, but still came up short of the opposition by the score of 25.98 to 24.65. They had a huge 9.43 in the third heat and a solid 8.98 in the first heat.
The meet continued to follow the same script with the Thunder dropping the Toss Event 24.45 to 23.88 to start the second half. The team's best score came in the first heat where they tallied an 8.73, nearly a point better than Concordia Wisconsin.
Trine picked up their only event victory in the Tumbling Event, winning 42.050 to 40.625. The team was solid throughout but turned in their best score in the open heat with an 8.30, winning again by nearly a point. They won by over a point in the "6 element" pass and the quad pass.
The Thunder finished the day with a 70.68 in the Team Event, giving them their final score of 203.580.
Trine finishes the season 6-3 after the loss. That win total ties for second most in program history. The team will finish the season during the Events Final portion of the NCATA Division III Tournament tomorrow, Saturday, April 11. The finals are set to begin at 12 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. CT.
