GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Trine University acrobatics & tumbling team finished the regular season with another convincing victory over their hosts from Calvin University. The meet ended with a score of 210.570 to 101.400.
The Thunder opened the meet with a strong showing in the Compulsory Event, winning 30.15 to 17.40. They turned in their best scores in the pyramid heat with a 9.20 and the toss heat with a 9.05. They added an 8.0 in the acro heat.
The team opened the Acro Event with another strong score before facing some struggles in the later heats. They ultimately won the event 21.25 to 19.95. Their first heat score of 9.15 was tied for seventh best in program history.
Trine continued the streak of great first heats in the Pyramid Event and finished the event with a 26.85 to 23.70 victory. The first heat was not only a great showing, but the best in program history with a score of 9.85. They also posted a 9.30 in the second heat.
The team also won the Toss Event with a score of 24.05 to 17.10. They had their best scores in the first and second heats, with an 8.5 and 8.3 respectively. The score in the synchronized heat was tied for eighth in the program's record book.
The picked up another convincing win in the Tumbling Event with a score of 41.35 to 23.25. Their best scores came in the second half of the event, but they did post their second best quad pass of the season with a 6.9. Their best score came in the open pass with an 8.575, which sits just outside of the top ten for the program's history.
Trine ended the day with a 66.920 in the Team Event, cementing their final score of 210.570.
The Thunder finish the regular season 5-2 which ties for most regular season wins for the team. They will next compete when they head to the NCATA Division III National Tournament hosted by East Texas Baptist University in Marshall, Texas. That event is scheduled to begin on Friday, April 10.
