FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. - The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named
Braden Estep its MIAA Track Athlete of the Week. This is Estep's third career MIAA Runner of the Week award.
Estep claimed three MIAA medals at Friday and Saturday's MIAA Championships. He took gold in the 60- and 200-meter dashes and added a bronze medal in the 4x400-meter relay. His winning time of 6.82 seconds in the 60 dash lowered his school record and ranks 28
th nationally. Later, in the 200 meters he stormed to a 21.93 second time for the win and ranks 29
th nationally. He teamed up with
Cole Figg,
Rushawn James, and
Kyle Redd in the 4x400 for a third-place finish.
Estep's time in the 60 meters is third best in MIAA history and his 200 meter performance ranks seventh best.
The track and field teams will travel to Wartburg College on Friday and Saturday for one final chance at NCAA-qualifying marks. The top-20 individuals and top-12 relays will qualify for the NCAA Championships on March 13 and 14.
