Men's Track and Field Third at MIAA Championships

ANGOLA, Ind. – Braden Estep showed he is the fastest man in the MIAA with titles in the 60- and 200-meter dashes at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Indoor Championships this weekend. Max Van Huis added an individual title in the 3000-meter run. Trine placed third with 117.5 points.
 
Calvin ended the Thunder's streak of six consecutive indoor conference championships with 191 points. Hope was second with 165 points. Albion, Olivet, Adrian, Kalamazoo, and Alma rounded out the team scores.
 
Estep lowered his school record in the 60-meters to 6.82 seconds and improved his #2 all-time mark in the 200 to 21.93 seconds.
 
Van Huis won the 3000 in 8:36.36, successfully defending his title from a year ago.
 
Blake Overmyer added an All-MIAA performance in the 5000-meter run, clocking 15:03.74.
 
Brady Millington, Hunter Eifert, Ethan Schroeder, and Drew Sillaway earned All-MIAA status in the 4000-meter distance medley relay with a time of 10:31.78. The fifth best in program history.
 
Kyle Redd added seventh place finishes in the 60 and 200.
 
Timothy Crull was eighth in the 400-meter dash in 52.12 seconds.
 
Sam Sering and Nolan Grant were fifth and eighth in the 800-meter run in 2:00.36 and 2:01.60.
 
Brady Millington took fourth in the mile run with a time of 4:22.15.
 
Nicholas Spielman and Ryan Hoopingarner added fourth and eighth place showings in the 3000.
 
Spielman, Van Huis, and Hoopingarner were third, fifth, and sixth in the 5000. Spielman's time of 15:04.45 improved his #9 all-time mark.
 
Cole Figg was sixth in the 60-meter hurdles in 8.60 seconds.
 
Rushawn James, Figg, Estep and Redd were third in the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 3:28.20.
 
Preston Nofziger cleared 4.16 meters/13' 7.75" in the pole vault for a fifth place finish.
 
Colten Zableckis and Trace Stookey took fourth and fifth place in the shot put with tosses of 14.26m/46' 9.25" and 14.17m/46' 6".
 
Myles Jackson and Zableckis were third and fourth in the weight throw. Jackson's heave measured 15.94m/52' 3.75" and Zableckis' 15.87m/52' 1".
 
Trine will head to the Wartburg Final Qualifier next weekend for a final chance at national qualifying marks. The top-20 individuals in each event qualify for the NCAA Championships on March 13-14 in Birmingham, Alabama.
