ANGOLA, Ind. – The National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) has announced their first ever Division III weekly wards, with Trine University's Kailynne Scare named the inaugural Freshman of the Week.

This season the NCATA announced that they would recognize weekly award winners for all three NCAA divisions, replacing a single three awards in past seasons. With no Division III contests two weeks ago, today becomes the first announcement of the awards.

Scare is a freshman base from Bronson, Mich. She competed in eight different heats and the team event for the Thunder as they defeated Concordia University Wisconsin 211.955 to 202.530. Her performance headlined in the pyramid event with scores of 9.50 in the synchronized heat, the eighth best in program history, and 9.45 in the open heat.

Trine will continue their season when they travel to Erie, Pa. for a tri-match hosted by Gannon University on Saturday, February 28. That event will also feature Buffalo State University and is set to start at 12 p.m.
