Acro Bows Out of NCATA Tournament

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Trine University acrobatics and tumbling team has bowed out of the 2025 NCATA Division III Tournament after losing their semifinal contest against top-seeded University of Mary Hardin-Baylor by the score of 257.370 to 207.265.

The Thunder had a solid showing in the Compulsory Event, but it wasn't enough with the Crusaders taking the event 36.55 to 31.00. Trine had above nine in both the pyramid heat with a 9.15 and the toss heat with a 9.00. Mary Hardin-Baylor pulled away in the Acro Event, where some mistakes proved costly for Trine with a score of 28.675 to 20.35.

The team started the Pyramid Event strong to finish off the first half of the competition, tying yesterday's fourth best score with a 9.475. All told in the event the Thunder still fell 25.225 to 29.150.

The second half was much the same as the first. Trine posted their best score during the Toss Event in the second heat with an 8.30 while falling 27.175 to 22.30. The team won the quad pass of the Tumbling Event 7.475 to 7.175 and also posted a strong open pass score of 8.525, but still fell in the event.

Trine finished the day with a 65.740 in the Team Event to give them their final score.

The Thunder finish the season 6-4 overall. Members of the team may be selected to compete in the event finals which are scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday, April 12 at 6 p.m.
